In My Kitchen a long time ago

Here we are in winter, again. The holidays are over, thank the Gods! I have to admit that I am daydreaming of what to plant and where once the snow melts. Though I don’t get much sun anymore so not sure how that will work out. Oh well,we are still a bit away from that. In the meantime I have been instagramming a lot and have left the blog to collect a little dust. I just went poking around in here and realized I started this post a very long time ago and didn’t hit the publish button, better late than never.

Made these as a baking challenge, the chocolatiest cake pops you can imagine

We have some fancy apple cider vinegar. This will go into some sort of salad dressing

the annual Paczki, yum!

made these pesto chips for a valentines post, super easy and fast

made a large casserole, so froze a container for another meal later

We did a baking challenge in January, which was bread bowls. They turned out really well and tasted great

Pre karate training lunch

Using up leftover bits and pieces for a breakfast “pizza”

We are growing the world’s smallest terrarium, I was sceptical but it is working. I am still sceptical…

made chocolate 8 bit hearts

In My Kitchen October 2017

Fall is in full swing, but we have had a very unusually warm sunny fall and no complaints! I will take every last ounce of sunshine I can get because winters here are long and cold. And on a warm fall day we enjoyed a tropical creamsicle smoothie.

Because of the warm weather we have been continually harvesting bumper crops of raspberries from our garden.

In my kitchen are oatcakes for snacks

Porridge for breakfast

Some favourite treats from the British, Scottish and Irish store.

We made these little pizza bites for the lunchbox

Not in my kitchen, but after a long never ending hike we enjoyed poutine

It is Thanksgiving in Canada, and since it is warm we tried pumpkin pie ice cream

Evie loves Walker’s steak and onion crisps, but we can’t get them in Canada anymore because there is real beef drippings in them. Apparently that is not allowed to be imported into Canada due to mad cow or something like that. We saw these at our grocery store and decided to try. Doesn’t taste like the other ones but they are good and the potatoes and really good. We are definitely going to try the other flavours too

And a cake that my brother brought for dessert

In My Kitchen July 2017

July! Summer is in full swing, though it hasn’t really felt that way. We have had a lot of rain and it hasn’t been very warm either. I hope that means we will have a long warm fall. Please gods let it mean that.

We did a little travelling, close to home these past couple of weekends, so I have a peek into my home kitchen and travel kitchen as well.

If you follow us on Instagram @cookswithevie you would have already seen some of what we have been up to. We have been eating a lot too!

Made lilac water, very fancy

Used up some of our chive blossoms to make chive blossom vinegar

Very rough looking calzones

And pizza

More of my fave cheese

This is Evie’s treat. She likes it straight up on tortilla chips. She doesn’t get that it is for putting on other food. Her aunt let her try it on a tortilla and now that is how she wants it, 😂

Raspberry pie

And a little walk rewarded us with some wild strawberries, so tiny and so sweet

And a chocolate fondue

Night #2 a marshmallow roast, we made s’mores

The first radish from the garden patch

If you like something, just order a case…I love this coffee

And found these beautiful dates, have a stock of those too. Awesome stuffed with almond butter.

In My Kitchen May (and April) 2017

I have missed a couple IMK link ups, and have missed visiting my blogging friends too. Spring is very slow to arrive and my kitchen inspiration has been lacking, almost non-existent.

There hasn’t been too much excitement around here.

If you check out our Instagram @cookswithevie you will have seen what we have been up to.

Here are a few things that have been in our kitchen while we have been AWOL from blogging.

Evie turned 9! This was the at home cake and we had emoji cupcakes at her party with friends.

We made this crepe cake, which I still have to post on the blog, and will do that soon.

We dyed Easter eggs

Made this delicious Thai crunch salad

Lays smile bag

In My Kitchen February 2017

Ok, totally failed on my New Years resolution to get back to blogging regularly. It is just so busy with work and other commitments that I just have nothing left.  I am determine to get the IMK post up this month!

Here are a few things that have been in my kitchen this month.

Salmon in white wine and dill sauce, delicious

My favourite cheese, soft creamy and so good. Wonderful served with dried figs. It is a Quebec cheese and I like supporting Canadian and local producers.

It was my Mom’s birthday and we had this chocolate raspberry cake.

Evie made a lego hotdog truck

A bottle of wine

We have been eating lots of these Sweeties, a grapefruit & pomelo cross. They are very sweet and juicy.

Evie made me this coaster for my morning coffee.
We are joining Liz at www.bizzylizzysgoodthings for the IMK link up. If you would like to join post before February 10th, link back to her site and let her know you have posted.

In My Kitchen December

It is December!! How did that happen? I completely missed the November meet up.  Can you believe that our next IMK will be in 2017?!

Here are a few things that have been in our kitchen.

We had Canadian Thanksgiving back in October so I used up the turkey bones and make stock in the slow cooker. It is now in the freezer to be used for soup later.

Teeny tiny panettone. Seriously the size of a muffin.

I had started my first sourdough starter….then it died😩 I will try again later.

Made this white bean and garlic soup, it was delicious

Panda bun

Green Thai curry

Really cute mushrooms
And a pump lid for a mason jar that now holds my dish washing liquid

It works great

Cranberry coffee cake

Some art made for me, you would think I liked coffee!

Cheese crackers for lunchbox snacks

Delicious buttermilk pie
There was turkey dinner with pumpkin pie today as well but I didn’t get any pictures. Right now my slow cooker is going with some vegetables, herbs and the carcass, making bone broth for future soup.

Thank you again Lizzy for hosting IMK.

In My Kitchen September 2016

Welcome back IMK friends!  The IMK hiatus is over and we are back sharing what is going on in our kitchens. Summer is over, school is back in and schedules are busier than ever. Here are a few things that we have in our kitchen.

Olive oils and balsamic vinegars that we picked up while on vacation.

A new locally made maple and birch cutting board.

All of this pottery was made by Evie in her pottery camp, a jar, some little pinch pots and an owl in a nest.

My friend brought me this pie mound from a trip to England

We went apple picking and got cider and warm apple cider donuts as well.
Some of the apples was made into apple sauce, may get us through winter
