In My Kitchen October 2017

Fall is in full swing, but we have had a very unusually warm sunny fall and no complaints! I will take every last ounce of sunshine I can get because winters here are long and cold. And on a warm fall day we enjoyed a tropical creamsicle smoothie.

Because of the warm weather we have been continually harvesting bumper crops of raspberries from our garden.

In my kitchen are oatcakes for snacks

Porridge for breakfast

Some favourite treats from the British, Scottish and Irish store.

We made these little pizza bites for the lunchbox

Not in my kitchen, but after a long never ending hike we enjoyed poutine

It is Thanksgiving in Canada, and since it is warm we tried pumpkin pie ice cream

Evie loves Walker’s steak and onion crisps, but we can’t get them in Canada anymore because there is real beef drippings in them. Apparently that is not allowed to be imported into Canada due to mad cow or something like that. We saw these at our grocery store and decided to try. Doesn’t taste like the other ones but they are good and the potatoes and really good. We are definitely going to try the other flavours too

And a cake that my brother brought for dessert

  1. hi Lori
thanks so much for joining in. sorry to hear about the probs with the linking. Just let me know and i can add it in for you, and if the badge is too much trouble, just leave it off your post. I want this to be fun, not stressful:) Thanks heaps for persevering! Love the goodies in your post. how marvellous to grow your own raspberries. and that cake! what fun. Not sure i can go with the pumpkin pie ice cream:) We tend to roast our pumpkins and have them for dinner with roast beef. we can get poutine here in some cafes but i bet it is much better where you are. Thanks again and cheers Sherry xx

Lori, I Googled your blog to connect after your link on Sherry’s post led me on a rabbit chase. (Not sure what’s up with that, but here you are, YAY!) Your kitchen goodies look delish… smoothies and raspberries and poutine, oh my! Sounds like you’re gearing up for winter with some soul-satisfying food, too… yup, ’tis the season in the North land. 🙂 Nothing like a steaming hot bowl of porridge or steak-flavored chips to bolster the spirit! Belated Happy Canadian Thanksgiving Day, too. xo

Aha! Helps if I look at the NEXT link… found you! 🙂

  4. Your raspberries look delicious Lori. I think I’ve seen some steak flavoured chips/crisps around the shops but never been game to try them. I like my sour cream & chives or salt & vinegar 🙂 x
